How can we help?

Real answers below, and a real person at the other end of the email. If something is broken or confusing, tell us. We read all of it.

Are you a parent? We wrote a page just for you.

Getting started

How do I join Relay?

Download Relay from the App Store and tap Sign up. If a friend gave you an invite code, enter it in Friends after you sign up and you two are connected automatically. No code? You can still join, then add your friends by username.

Relay is empty without your people, so bring them.

How do I add my friends?

Tap the add friend icon at the top left of your feed, search their username, and send a request. Once they accept, you will see each other in the feed and can message and share.

Relay stays small on purpose, so it is built for the people you actually know, not for collecting followers.

Sharing photos

Why does my photo look different after I take it?

That is the film look. Relay develops every shot with a warm, slightly vintage grade, kind of like a disposable camera. It is part of the vibe and it happens automatically.

When the shot finishes developing you can add a caption and choose where it goes.

Journal, feed, or send to a friend, what is the difference?
  • Journal is your story, your friends can tap in and see your recent shots.
  • Feed drops the photo into the main feed your friends scroll.
  • Instant sends it to one person and it disappears after they open it once.

You pick which one right before you post, in the develop screen.

What is a boost?

Boosts are how you react to a photo, with emojis instead of a like button. Press and hold an emoji to boost more. There is no public like count and nobody gets ranked, it is just a way to say you saw it and you are into it.

How do streaks and Best Friends work?

Streaks count the days you and a friend keep sharing back and forth. Best Friends is just the people you talk to and share with the most, ranked by how much you actually interact, not by anything public.

Streak reminders come at most once a day, in a time window you pick, and you can turn them off or hide your streaks entirely in Settings.

Privacy and account

Who can see what I post?

People on Relay, never the open web. By default your snaps show to the whole Relay community, which is deliberately tiny. Set Visibility to Friends in Settings and your snaps show only to friends you have accepted. Your Journal and messages are always friends only.

What does the Visibility setting do?

It is one switch that works in both directions. On Public, your snaps can appear in the feed of everyone on Relay, and your feed shows everyone. On Friends, your snaps only show to friends you have accepted, and your feed only shows your friends.

You will find it at the top of Settings.

How do I block or report someone?

Open the profile or the photo, tap the menu, and choose Block or Report. Blocking removes them from your feed and stops them from contacting you. Reports come to us and we look at every one within 24 hours.

If someone is making you uncomfortable, you can also email help@relayyyy.com and we will help.

How do I delete my account?

Go to your profile, open Settings, then Privacy and data. You can delete your account from there, which removes your photos and your data for good. If you would rather we do it, email help@relayyyy.com with your username.

I cannot log in or I lost access

Double check your username and password, they are case sensitive. If you are still stuck, email help@relayyyy.com with your username and we will get you back in.
